Where Did You Sleep Last Night
Huddie Ledbetter
Nirvana
Unplugged
1994
This song is very simple but really cool. It was written by
one of Cobain's idols, Huddie "Leadbelly" Ledbetter, who was
one of the early blues masters (we're talking 1920's here).
This is the man who the comment about "Leadbelly's guitar" is
directed. And this song may indicate that he was imprisoned
for about 20 years because he killed someone. He was kinda
violent. Just in case you were wondering...

I will shiver the whole night through
My girl my girl where will you go
I'm goin' where the cold wind blows
In the pines in the pines where the sun don't ever shine
I will shiver the whole night through
Her husband was a hard-workin' man
Just about a mile from here
His head was found in the drivin' wheel
But his body never was found
My girl my girl don't lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night

I will shiver the whole night through
